One of the oldest methods of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is based on the belief that life energy flows throughout the body and affects physical, mental and emotional health. Acupuncture is used for a variety of therapeutic reasons, from relieving pain to promoting fertility.
During an acupuncture session, a licensed acupuncturist inserts tiny, hair-thin needles into specific points on the body to help restore proper energy flow. When this energy is unblocked, the body is able to function more effectively.

What to expect...
An acupuncture session lasts anywhere from 30-60 minutes. During a typical session, very thin needles are inserted into the skin and left in place for 30-45 minutes while you rest, typically lying on your back.
In terms of results, it’s nearly impossible to say what one should expect, as everyone responds to and experiences acupuncture differently. Some people feel relaxed and maybe a little tired, others feel energized and ready for anything. Some people experience an improvement right away and for others it can take several treatments before noticing a positive change.
The most common response to acupuncture is that patients report feeling happy and content. One acupuncturist commented that “It’s hard to put into words but there’s a distinct balanced and harmonious feeling that acupuncture gives most people and it just feels good!”
